FAQs - New Hope Counselling for Hope, Healing and Therapy

Sessions are delivered via several options including:

  • Secure end-to-end encryption Zoom service.
  • In-person, face-to-face using our comfortable and private counselling room.
  • Where use of technology and travel challenges exist please contact New Hope to discuss other alternatives.

  • Depending on the setting, first sessions will typically last 75-90 minutes with subsequent sessions usually 60-75 minutes.

  Sessions encompass the following elements:

  • Confidentiality and Trust: I create a safe and confidential space where you can freely express your thoughts, feelings and concerns without fear of judgment.
  • Introduction and Check-In: At the beginning of the session, I will seek to understand how you're doing and if there are any specific issues or topics you'd like to review during the session. This is an opportunity to share what's been happening in your life and what you would like to focus on.
  • Exploration and Reflection: During the session, I will actively listen and ask questions to help you explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences more deeply and encourage you to reflect on patterns, beliefs, or behaviours that are relevant to your concerns.
  • Goal Setting: With my support, you may set specific goals or objectives for your counselling to help guide your sessions while helping provide a sense of focus and direction.
  • Techniques and Strategies: Depending on your needs I may introduce various techniques and strategies to help you gain insights, develop coping skills, and foster personal growth.
  • Emotional Support: I will provide empathy,  support, and validation throughout the session and help you process and manage difficult emotions.
  • Action Steps: Towards the end of the session, I may invite you to commit to tasks or actions for implementation between sessions such as practising new skills or engaging in self-reflection exercises.
  • Closure and Reflection: Towards the session close I will summarise key points discussed, seek your concluding thoughts and briefly reflect on our session.
  • Schedule/confirm our next appointment as applicable.

  • A late cancellation fee of 50% of the session fee may be charged to the client.
